Rules and Terms of the Competition

Please make sure you are aware of all of the rules and conditions below before you submit your videos for this competition.

  • Submissions will be accepted between Monday 18th February and up to midnight on Friday 29th April 2022

  • Band members must be between age 12 and 21 years of age on 31st August 2022

    Bands can be from two to five persons, with additional vocalists if required and play any genre of music

  • Original music is preferred but not essential

  • Each entry should be submitted in any of the following video formats: .mp4, .mov, .m4v with a maximum of two songs together with a completed application form

  • Length of each song should not exceed 3 minutes 30 seconds

  • Video must be of a live performance (not edited)

  • A maximum of eight bands will be selected to compete in the final on Saturday 21st May at Seth Ward Community Centre, Buntingford

  • Communication will take place with each band in advance of the event to establish band setup, personnel, and equipment

  • Bands can choose to play the same songs they submitted when entering the competition or alternative material

  • Finalists will be given feedback from a panel of judges with expertise and experience in the music industry

 

Judging will be based on a range of criteria including:

  • Musical content

  • Performance and presentation

  • Technical ability

  • Band cohesion

  • Originality and creativity

Terms and Conditions (The boring but necessary bit)

  1. By entering the competition, all entrants agree to allow photos, videos, and any other media to be used by Summer Arts in Buntingford to promote this and future events

  2. The judges’ decisions will be final at all stages of the competition

  3. Successful entrants must commit to taking part in the live final on 21st May. The winning band must commit to taking part to opening the evening event on Friday 17th June

  4. All entrants must be amateurs and have not performed in a professional capacity

  5. All bands with members under the age of 18 must be accompanied by at least one responsible adult.

  6. Summer Arts in Buntingford and anyone acting on behalf of the event shall not be held responsible for

    any band member’s equipment or personal effects

  7. Order of performances will be determined by the organisers and based around practicalities and does

    not in any way imply an order of merit

  8. Any prize awarded will be as stated – no cash alternative is offered

  9. Judges reserve the right to cut short a song if the band exceeds their allocated fifteen-minute set

  10. If the Event is cancelled by reason of COVID 19, war, fire, national emergency, labour dispute, strike,

    lock-out, civil disturbance, inevitable accident, the non-availability of the Event premises, or any other cause, without limitation the Organisers shall be under no liability to entrants in respect of any actions, claims, losses (including consequential losses), costs, expenses suffered or incurred by the Band or its Members, because of such events
